GUEST BLOG: FOUR WEEKS, 20 LBS AND A NEW DIRECTION ON THE DOLCE DIET

MyDolceDiet.com member Travis Reynolds began his journey not too long ago at 265 lbs and is now 244.5! He lost an additional 5 lbs after writing the blog post below. That’s more than 20 lbs obliterated so far following The Dolce Diet Principles! Here’s a glimpse into his experience thus far. Enjoy!

Four weeks later, fifteen pounds down and all the big lifts remain stable.
Since I picked up the Mike Dolce books, “Living Lean” and the “Living Lean Cookbook,” this guy has drastically cut down fast food intake and almost completely eliminated junk food. I haven’t experienced success like this since the first weight cut back in ’09 and I can’t stress enough how helpful those books have been.
Lunch changed from two to three burritos at Taco Bell (!) to something like the green leaf lettuce/tomato/apple/walnut salad seen above. Dinner has changed from more Taco Bell to homemade stir fry with grapeseed or coconut oil. Delicious food for a fraction of the calories, people.
It’s not that I didn’t know how to do it, as I’ve lamented before. It’s just that I always felt so aimless in how to put things together. The Dolce Diet isn’t so much a template with day-by-day instructions as it is an inspirational set of principles; it doesn’t hold my hand in the process, only puts the way on display in big, broad strokes.
It isn’t easy, not when I’m surrounded by quick, cheap and hyperpalatable options on all sides and at all times. But it’s fulfilling, and that’s important. It isn’t easy when there is a metric butt-ton of cake on consecutive days at the office, or when friends and family make jokes about my food choices or pressure me to eat the same processed stuff they do. But rising above all that feels good, feels righteous.
I still have a long way to go, starting at 265 and shooting for 200. I weighed in at 250 on Thursday. I’ve come too far already to turn around and give up.
