Alton’s Story

My best friend and next-door neighbor had been talking to me for months about exercising and eating right. Frankly, I got tired of hearing about it, and it was either go to the track at the school and walk to shut him up or kill him – either one.
So in October 2012 I started walking 2 miles every day for months, and I started 3 Weeks to Shredded. After the first 3 weeks I saw a slight weight loss. Then I kept at it. I probably (followed) 3 Weeks to Shredded for about 9 weeks, and the results were amazing. Then I started using Living Lean Cookbook. It also is amazing.
I then started walking 3 miles a day, (and) now I’m walking 4 and 5 miles every day. I run/walk a 5k race every other Saturday or more if I am off work. I can say I am truly addicted to this exercise regimen and the diet. Thanks, Mike Dolce.

Andy Shares His Inspirational 60-Pound Weight-Loss Story

Transformation Story

andy-norzagaray-60-lbs-dolce-diet

Name: Andy Norzagaray
Age: 27
Starting Weight: 250
Current Weight: 190
Which Dolce Diet book helped you on your journey?
Living Lean

Today I went to the doctor for a wellness check, based on your recommendation of doing so, I’ve lost 60 lbs. in the last year and my blood work was exemplary. Ten months ago I had a similar check-up and here are the differences in my labs:
Triglycerides went from 240 to 74
HDL Cholesterol went from 41 to 63
LDL Cholesterol went from 120 to 66
Blood pressure went from 160/90 to 129/83

My health is at an all time best. A few years ago, it was at an all time low. I spent six years in the United States Marine Corps. Upon my discharge I had a series of misfortunate events happen in my life that sent me into a dark place in my life filled with self pity and eating lots of “comfort food.” I was fat, out of shape and depressed. I began listening to Joey Diaz’s “Church of What’s Happening Now.” Joey Diaz motivated me to quit feeling bad for myself. When you were on his show, you guys helped me make the decision to start The Dolce Diet. A few weeks later I ordered “Living Lean.” This was around May 2013.
Once I started living the lifestyle, the weight started dropping really fast. I began jogging a few times a week. I could only run one lap before I had to stop due to the pain throughout my body and the inability to breath.
A few months after that in August I got a gym membership at a commercial gym. I’ve been grinding it out ever since. This past Sunday, March 23rd, I ran a half-marathon in 151:44; placing 157th out of 900. Two days later I went to the gym and dead lifted 455lbs raw “PR”. I plan on competing in a powerlifting meet this summer while still training in distance running in order to help me reach my goal of becoming a strength and conditioning coach. I’m currently attending a junior college full time using my VA benefits. In a year and a half I will be transferring to the Nutrition program at the University of Arizona.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve been a huge inspiration. Keep kicking ass and motivating others to live a healthy lifestyle.
Andy Norzagaray

The Telegraph's Gareth A. Davies Embarks on The Dolce Diet

Tough guys can diet, too – or at least I hope so

The Telegraph’s boxing and mixed martial arts correspondent wants to lose his flab, so, fittingly, has embarked on a tough regime used by top fighters

mike-dolce-gareth-a-davies
telegraph_logoWe’ve all seen the ads: get a fighter’s physique in 12 weeks, with bulging biceps, sculpted abs and tiny waist. But I’m not interested in attaining the chiselled, muscular look – just in getting rid of my sizeable paunch.
None the less, as The Daily Telegraph’s correspondent on boxing and mixed martial arts, I’m embarking on the Dolce Diet, the tough weight-loss regime used by world-class professional fighters.
Why? I’ve seen the results. Mixed martial arts is the fastest-growing sport in the world, one in which participants are allowed to kick, punch, knee, wrestle and grapple each other on the floor. World champion fighters – men such as Johnny Hendricks from Texas or Britain’s Michael Bisping – typically walk around at 220lb (16 stone) but are, incredibly, able to “boil down” by about 50lb (3.6 stone) in the three months leading up to a bout, to reach their fighting weight.

It’s a tough challenge – and many rely on fitness guru Mike Dolce, to help them. Dolce, 37, is a former wrestler, professional fighter and, at one point in his twenties, a muscle-bound powerlifter who bulked up to a massive 282lb (20 stone).

“Now I’m healthy and happy at 195lb [14 stone] – the perfect weight for my frame,” he tells me when we meet. “I can run 10 miles today, squat double my body weight for multiple repetitions, and do 100 push-ups at the drop of a hat.”
Dolce has agreed to oversee my weight-loss programme. Six foot tall and weighing 210lb (15 stone), I’m aiming to lose 30lb (2 stone) in 12 weeks. At 48, I’m up against not a champion fighter, but a typical journalist’s lifestyle, including constant travel and bad eating habits.
So far, I’ve followed Dolce’s instructions to the letter: all the “normal” food has been cleared from the fridge and kitchen cupboards, to be stored in boxes or given away. Thankfully there are no family meals to worry about: both my daughters are at university and my wife Andrea, a qualified yoga instructor, is joining me on the diet.
Armed with a 137-page manual, a shopping list, recipes and 12 DVDs, I’m ready to tackle the Dolce regime. I’ll be committing to an hour of intense plyometric exercise – in which muscles exert maximum force in as short a time as possible – which means that, each day, I’ll be attacking thin air with my fists, knees and feet, and lifting light weights while doing so.
I am permitted four meals and two snacks daily. But there’s no worries about calorie counting – as long as I stick to the recipes in Dolce’s book.

On the menu are foods such as almond milk (lactose and cholesterol-free), organic agave nectar, chickpeas, broccoli, quinoa, buckwheat, tofu and wild salmon; those more associated with high-end diet mags than fight culture. Andrea is delighted: there are oats and berry smoothies for breakfast, dates and pecans for a mid-morning snack, Waldorf “warrior” salad and a skinny “sumo” stir-fry for dinner.

Like a fighter pursuing the world title belt, the success of this experiment could come down to how much I want this. I’ll be travelling to fights for five of the next 12 weeks, so the real test will be sticking to the Dolce plan while on the move.
The man himself is encouraging. “There’s no reward without the pain,” he tells me. But, he promises that the programme, if I stick to it, will transform me into “the person you deserve to be”.

DAILY MIRROR: Top UFC coach Mike Dolce aiming to bulk up Brit fighter Luke Barnatt for multiple title challenge

Renowned UFC coach Mike Dolce recently visited undefeated middleweight Luke Barnatt to see his preparations for his March 8th battle with Mats Nilsson at the O2 Arena in London.
And the American, who has worked with Thiago Alves and Michael Bisping among others, aims to add more muscle to Barnatt as he fights his way towards UFC gold.
“Because Luke has a large frame there’s a lot of muscle to work with, so we could definitely add another 20 pounds over time for him to win numerous world titles,” said Dolce.
“I think he’s already a top 10 middleweight – his level changes are great and his armbars from the top or bottom are also very good.”
Discussing Barnatt’s current diet, he added: “I believe nutrition is everything – especially in a young athlete like Luke.”
Barnatt, 25, brings a lot of momentum to the O2 show after disposing of American Andrew Craig last October with a rear-naked-choke.
Meanwhile, Dolce’s experience in planning diets for the likes of rejuvenated Vitor Belfort, 36, convinced UFC bosses to ask him to develop their UFC Fit training and nutrition programme.
Launching in the UK on March 1st, available exclusively at Gymbox centres, the course has four three-week segments and focuses on strength, conditioning, flexibility and endurance.
“With UFC Fit we’re promoting a healthy lifestyle so you can spread your life, enjoy your work and embrace your family for longer. There’s science that says we can live up to 120-years-old but unfortunately we make mistakes that take our latter years away.”
And while the former 5-10 welterweight has worked with some of the biggest names in the game, his most popular beneficiary is Oregon motormouth Chael Sonnen, who Dolce met back in 2004 at Team Quest.
Dolce revealed he and Sonnen are “like brothers” and that the 36-year-old, surprisingly enough, “turns the filters on” while shouting down his opponents on camera.
Next up for Sonnen is a simmering grudge match in May against Brazilian, Wanderlei Silva, who the self-proclaimed American Gangster is currently coaching against on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3.
Dolce admitted: “I absolutely fear for Chael being over in Brazil. Every day he spends there is a danger and although I love Brazil and their people, the Brazilian public certainly do not love Chael Sonnen.”
With reports of a ruckus breaking out during filming, he added: “I know Wanderlei is 100 per cent wound-up by Chael. But Wanderlei’s problem is that he’s become emotionally involved in something which he needs to approach in an analytical manner. By reacting to Chael’s taunts he’s giving him exactly what he wants – and that’s incredibly dangerous once you step into the cage.”
