stressWe all have stressful times in our lives. But it is important to decipher chronic stress from a one-time instance or just pure annoyance. Here are some signs and symptoms to look out for on multiple levels. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, try talking to a trusted family member or friend, or even consider seeking professional help. You can also try meditation, zoning out for a week (take time off from work to refocus if needed), yoga or some other stress-relieving activities.
Behavioral
• Appetite changes
• Change in sleep patterns (too much or too little)
• Isolation
• Unexplained aggression or hostility
• Defensiveness
• OCD-types of behaviors
• Nervous ticks (nail biting, fidgeting, pacing, hair pulling, etc.)
• Holding grudges for way too long
• Procrastination
• Low self-esteem/interest in appearance
• Stuttering/rambling
• Use of alcohol/drugs as a coping mechanism
• Impulsiveness
Cognitive
• Constant worrying
