Pool Noodle Olympics
by Samantha Coogan, MS, RDN, LD
Turn your backyard into the next Olympic arena. These activities would best be done on grass (maybe with a sprinkler on for some added flair) however, you could also do these around the pool. Just be careful not to slip and fall on the wet deck.
1. “Javelin”
• Set up 5 noodles, taped together in circles, between two posts.
• Us a piece of Duct tape to tape the bottom and top of one ring together, then the sides, and finally to the posts.
• Now use an intact noodle as your javelin and attempt to toss through the circles.
2. “Tire Toggle”
• Using the same apparatus as above, but take it down from the posts, and keep them taped together.
• Place it on the ground, and quickly step one foot in each circle, and race for the fastest time (similar to the classic NFL combine drill).
3. “American Gladiators”
• This one is super simple.
• Hold a pool noodle horizontally like a bow staff.
• Your opponent should hold it the same way.
• Now “face-off” and who ever gets tapped 5 times first is out.
