GUEST POST: HOW ONE WOMAN LEARNED TO EMBRACE SUCCESS IN WEIGHT LOSS

by Shantanee, MYDolceDiet.com Member
Figured I’d give this a go….
Oftentimes, I find myself wondering why I’ve failed so many times at this weight loss business. The end-all, be-all to my miserable existence. Dramatic? Possibly, but its been a life-long problem. It didn’t surface a few years ago, or even a few months ago, it’s ALWAYS been a problem. It’s been THE problem.
Even as a kid, the constant ridicule at grade school as well as home, made eating a comfort for me, and the pounds added up. I was never pushed to play any sports, hell even discouraged from even bothering on my own in High School. Why bother? Ya know, I wouldn’t be any good at them! Learned behavior. The worst possible learned behavior imaginable.
Nothing has ever panned out. Everything I have ever done has been met with a half-ass approach or no approach at all. The confidence of loving the way you look and feel hadn’t been present up until a year ago. I would go through cycles of years of, lose ten pounds, gain back 15, get frustrated, and give up. That was my life. I was used to failure and misery, and its comfortable for me. Even now sometimes, it is.
Once I hit my heaviest weight (272), I was pretty bummed to say the least. I went back into my lose weight, gain it back, get frustrated, and give up cycle yet again. Because I love to torture myself. Oddly enough, my cycle was repeated, but a lot more disciplined. Still not the best plan, but better nonetheless.
Two years had passed, and I would get compliments about losing weight, all the time! People would ask “How much weight have you lost?” I would respond with “Not sure, about 20 pounds or so.” The compliments came in waves, and I’d brush them off. I didn’t notice like everyone else did.

After a year and a half, I’d finally weight myself…51 pounds lost.

I refused to even believe that me with my track record, could even pull that off. I didn’t take much pride in it, because it wasn’t like me to really accomplish anything this significant.  And it wasn’t the 120 pounds I want to lose, so it didn’t matter.

Fifty pounds is a HUGE deal! I realized over time that I’m not afraid of falling on my face, or failing. I’m afraid of success itself. I’m afraid to experience a world where I can have all the things I want out of life. I don’t know what’s that’s like. AT ALL! They’ve always seemed so unattainable before.

I still have zero idea how I did it, and I knew if I wanted to lose more weight and keep this weight off, I needed a different plan, and to make it a lifestyle change…That’s why I’m here. (at MyDolceDiet.com). It was suggested to me via twitter, but I wasn’t sure I was ready, so I waited months to give the Dolce Diet a go.
Months later and 13 pounds down, I can’t ignore the difference it’s made on my life. Not just how I look, but how I feel. Doesn’t come without some self-sabotage though. I am guilty of standing in my own way sometimes, but I’m changing and growing more everyday.
I’m not used to this kind of relentless positivity, a wonderful support system, or feeling like I can actually do this. It’s new and it’s scary as hell, but I’m just gonna try my best to do what it takes, to be the best me I can…Gosh that’s cheesy! Ha! Something else I learned from that Dolce dude… 😉

MMA FIGHTING: MIKE DOLCE SAYS HECTOR LOMBARD CAN MAKE 170, BUT FINAL DECISION REMAINS TO BE MADE

sbnation-mmafighting
By Mike Chiappetta  @MikeChiappetta
NEW YORK — After a month of working with Hector Lombard, MMA strength, conditioning and dieting guru Mike Dolce is confident that the Cuban-born middleweight can forge a new home in the welterweight division if he so chooses. For now, Lombard is undecided, hoping to gauge his strength and energy levels before committing to a change.
Dolce told MMA Fighting on Wednesday that Lombard and his manager Dan Lambert originally contacted him not with the goal of shifting divisions, but to overhaul his diet, help structure his training and reach an improved state of fitness. From there, they believe, a proper judgment on his future could be made.
According to Dolce, Lombard was 202 pounds when they started working together about a month ago. By comparison, welterweight No. 1 contender Johny Hendricks, who is also a client of his, walks around at 210 pounds in between fights. Dolce said that for his last fight at UFC 158, Hendricks weighed in at 196 pounds on the Tuesday before weigh-ins, just 72 hours before he checked in at 171.
After a month on his diet, he believes Lombard (32-4-1, 1 no contest) is already so close to that range that he could have Lombard on target to make weight within 48 hours.

“Honestly, nobody has said [170] is the target, but it’s an option,” he said. “We want to see how his body responds. He’s a little reluctant to say, ‘Yes, I want to do that,’ because he’s nervous. He is a big guy, he’s had some bad weight cuts to make 185, but he was doing it the wrong way. We do it healthy, so I think it’s going to be easy.”

Lombard, who is 35 years old, has competed most of his career as a middleweight, though he’s also fought several times as a light-heavyweight and has gotten as low as 183 for his two fights in the PRIDE Bushido series back in 2006.
At just 5-foot-9 with a 71-inch reach, he often gives up significant size and reach to his divisional opponents. For example, since moving to the UFC, he’s lost matchups with Tim Boetsch, who is 6-feet tall with a 74-inch reach, and Yushin Okami, who is 6-foot-2 with a 72-inch reach. Other top 185ers like champ Anderson Silva (6-foot-2, 77.5-inch reach) and Chris Weidman (6-foot-2, 78-inch reach) have the same advantage. By comparison, top welterweights like champion Georges St-Pierre, (5-foot-11, 76-inch reach), Hendricks (5-foot-9, 69-inch reach) and Jake Ellenberger (5-10, 73-inch reach) are much closer in size.
Lombard is just 1-2 in the octagon since signing a lucrative free-agent deal, and his thickly muscled frame has led many to the conclusion that he could not make the drop to welterweight, but Dolce says that build is actually conducive to the change.

“Muscle is easy,” he said. “It’s easy to cut weight when you have muscle, because you can wring that water out of that. The guys who have extra body fat, there’s no water that comes out of that. That’s hard to work off.”

Despite Dolce’s confidence that Lombard can make the drop, a final decision remains in the future. Personally, he says, he feels that Lombard will end up at 170, but he won’t push or make a case for it. The final call belongs to Lombard and his management team. That is an approach borne of experience. Dolce himself was once a fighter, and he knows that the athlete must have full conviction in his decision for it to work.
“He’s already close enough [to make it], but I learned a while ago, my role is to listen to the athlete and help them do what they want,” he said. “I’m not going to tell the athlete where to go. I never tell an athlete they should cut down because I know how hard it is. It takes a physical toll. But he can do it if he wants. He’s been on my diet for a month. He’s already within striking distance.”

GUEST BLOG: MOM OF THREE SHARES HER DOLCE DIET STORY

by Christi Mead
I just have to say, I LOVE this diet! When my husband first told me about it, I was thinking: “Oh great, another time consuming diet. I dont have time for this. I have 3 kids to take care of and homeschool!”
Every diet he has ever tried requires me to cook something different for him, so every mealtime I end up cooking different things for everyone.  All these diets we have tried haven’t lasted because they get boring, having the same thing continually and they take so much time.
But The Dolce Diet is so easy to make a lifestyle! I have a 7-year-old, 5-year-old and 3-month-old. My older boys love the food! I told them to tell me their favorites so I could make a menu plan with our favorites. Well, every meal so far they say, “Add this to our favorite list!”
The meals are easy and fast and GOOD! My 3-month-old son is thriving off the milk he is getting from me. He is growing quicker and bigger than my other two did. We have been doing this for 6 weeks now and I have lost 12 pounds and my husband 10 pounds.
I have extra time to workout now with all the time I’m saving in the kitchen! We don’t even miss our old lifestyle of eating. I am ashamed to admit that I used to feed my kids that crap from McDonald’s. My kids asked for it one day, and I sat them down, told them that mommy is learning a lot about healthy foods, and that I love them too much to feed that food to them. They were fine with it!
They love the fact that I pack our food and take them to the park now! We also love to entertain, and I have cooked several meals from the Living Lean Cookbook and every guest we have over has raved over the food and are amazed that something so healthy can be so good! That is the sad thing that America has gotten this idea that if it’s healthy it’s got to be gross, The Dolce Diet: Living Lean Cookbook has disproved this!!! I just want to say thank you for helping our family with this! We love your podcasts! Keep up the good work and God bless!

WOMEN'S WORLD – THE DOLCE DIET: EAT, DRINK AND WIN!

The Dolce Diet_2

by WomenWorld.org
Want to slim down, boost your workouts and feel great? The answer is simple – eat smarter, not smaller.
No matter how strong your resolve, even the most virtuous among us can find it a struggle being saintly seven days a week.

The newest eating plan on the nutrition block is quickly gaining credibility for its healthy philosophy towards food. There’s no crazy calorie counting or cutting food groups – instead, a former mixed martial arts (MMA) competitor and now peak performance coach. Based around nutritious kitchen cupboard staples, the diet is all about eating strategically rather than cutting back on portion sizes, and works in conjunction with a fitness plan tailored to achievable goals.

Weighty Issues

Mike devised this diet based on his personal experiences with food and fitness. Through a carefully calculated diet and fitness plan, Mike transformed himself from a 20 stone power lifter to a shredded 12 stone 2lb MMA fighter. He dropped more than 8 stone in three years, but managed to keep his vitality and wellness at its peak while also setting a record for the fastest knockout in the International Fight League. He’s a man who knows what he’s talking about and now shares his wisdom with aspiring athletes across the globe. But you don’t have to be a hardcore martial arts fighter to try his diet – the plan is suitable for everyone from athletes to office workers and new mums. Wondering what kind of results you can expect? ‘Women can experience immediate improvements to their energy, a dramatic loss in body weight, increase in strength and feminine muscular tone,’ says Mike. Now that sounds like our kind of diet!

Tailored Nutrition

‘Most people think that for sports performance you have to take all the sports supplements out there, but that’s not true,’ says Mike. ‘We start with food first. ’ His theory is that by giving your body the correct fuel, you can help to boost training and target your trouble spots.
In our fast-paced world, food is more about convenience and less about care and choice. We eat on the go, chowing down meals mindlessly, which can damage our digestion and our general wellbeing.
Mike believes we all fall into one of four types of nutritional categories – athletes (or those who regularly train); health and wellness (a focus on general wellbeing); gluten free (or other food intolerances) and vegan (cutting out animal products) – and working to your specific needs can help you to lose weight and get leaner. But, all the meals on the plan are easily adjustable. We’ve compiled a menu here along with Mike’s top workout tips so you can try the Dolce method for yourself…
