Don’t Miss Out on the Benefits of Fall Produce

Don’t Miss Out on the Benefits of Fall Produce

By Nicole Kiley, MSc, RD

It’s Fall! What better way to celebrate than purchasing seasonal produce! Foods that are in season are harvested in abundance, driving costs down. In addition to being more affordable, locally grown produce tastes better and has a higher nutritional value. Over the time that foods are harvested, stored (refrigerated) and transported, peak flavor and portions of antioxidant/phytonutrient content is lost. Purchasing locally in season produce is not only good for the bank account, but for the taste buds and body too!
