“Woke up one day and didn’t even recognize myself anymore. I was 249 lbs, 5’7, with 30% body fat. Now I’m 180 lbs with 19% body fat! Everyday there is a new challenge – hockey, running, weights, swimming. I want to be a good example to my friends, family, and coworkers. The hardest part was making the decision to change my life. I had to educate myself in health and nutrition. I read labels, checked calories, read fitness magazines and books, created awesome recipes of my own. I now know what my body needs instead of giving in to what I wanted. My advice to anyone wanting to start is to take that first step – walk that treadmill, get on that bike, do the rower, swim the laps, run that 5k challenge, let it snowball, and take you to a place that you want to be! There is so much knowledge out there, all the work has been done, just follow the plan. If you cheat, you cheat yourself, no one else! I was 36, a smoker, had high blood pressure, was borderline diabetic, and now I’m 38 and in the same physical shape I was in at 18! My sleep is incredible, I am rested everyday, and I look forward to all new possibilities. My journey isn’t over, I have looked at what I have done to date and I am even more focused to reach my ultimate goal weight and body fat percentage, this is my year! – Len Tuckey, 38 y/o
